Art MEME

Hello All,
I have decided take up the Art MEME challenge from Jo in NZ http://http://nzjo.blogspot.com/.
I don't ever do this sort of thing but I thought it could be fun. If I understand this right , this is how it works. The first 5 people who respond to this post will get an original piece of art done by me. When I get your comment and see your blog passing on the challenge I will start to work on your own piece of me. It doesn't have to be very big just something I have embroidered, sewn, drawn or whatever. This is not an exchange simply a pay it forward. You have to post this challenge on your blog and give to 5 people who respond.
How was that?

I will post more pics later of my Fairy Block

Yet Another Block and Tattoo Talk

Hello All,

I am putting up some pics of another block. I don't want you to think that I am some super fast stitcher or something. All the ones you have seen are ones I've had done for awhile.
The center picture is the whole block. I loaded it first but Blogger is weird and puts it where it wants. If I try to move it in the post it looses it's link and you can't expand it when you click on it.
I think this might be my favorite so far. I love the fairy theme. And the pink. I love pink but as you get older you have to be more careful wearing it, so I did a whole block to help me with the pink compulsion. Looking at it I think I definitely need to do some more work on the seams. They need to be built up some more and as always MORE BEADS!
I can also see where some of my stitches aren't exactly even. I think if you are very prone to want perfection like me, especially in your own work, you can always find a flaw. It took a lot of thought before I decided to show my work to anyone who does CQ as I can see every single perceived mistake.
Maybe my next tattoo will be a fairy. If I can figure out where to put it. I have this theory that if I pay money I want to be able to see it, so it can't go on my back. At the same time I have to put them somewhere that I can cover them easily because some people have a huge problem with Tattoos. To me it's just another area of artistic expression but some think it means I am some sort of drug addict or white trash or that it was a youthful indiscretion. Have you seen that SNL sketch about the lower back tattoo remover? I laugh so hard at that one I have to leave the room.
Well back to Halloween costumes. One down one to go. Then the curtains. Then I can crazy quilt!

More of Celestial Block

Hello All,

Here's some more of the block. Fancy fabrics are beautiful to look at and touch but man are they a real pain in the you know what to piece. They slide alot and if you have them slightly on the bias they tend to stretch out of shape.

I did buy some cotton fabrics to try something different. Actually I bought quite a bit but don't we all? I am trying to force myself to wait on it until I get this one done though. I have no patience at all.

Zac passed his driving test and I started on the Halloween costumes finally! YEA!!

Back to the grindstone.

Driving Test and Block # 2

Hello All,

So I had just a wonderful morning. I took #2 son for his driving test and he didn't pass because the driver right before him didn't speak English and the tester was in a BAD mood. She was letting her redhead temper get to her ( I can say this as a fellow redhead) I took one look at her face and told Zac "Bud you aren't passing this test today" and I was right . He has to get retested next week. Normally it wouldn't be such a big deal but he just signed up for the Navy on the delayed entry program and he has to have his driver's license so he can keep his job he signed up for. So here's hoping!

So on to the fun stuff!
This block is obviously a celestial theme. The lace in the upper left hand corner is hand dyed. It blends from purple to blue to and aqua color and is beaded over the flowers already on the lace. You can see I have quite a few beaded fringes on this piece including a coin fringe.

I have a question. Can you see these pics well enough? Do I need to lighten them more than I have? It is really a bear trying to photograph satins and velvets sometimes.

Guess what? I still haven't touched those Halloween costumes!

Confessions and oh yeah the rest of the first block

Ok I have a confession, I am a MAJOR procrastinated. It has been raining all morning so all I want to do is stay in bed . And I don't want to do those silly Halloween costumes. I really hate doing those. I have always hatedHalloween as a kid it just seemed a waste. But I never want my kids to feel left out so I always go overboard then regret it.

Another confession, I always go overboard on almost everything. So I am perfect for crazy quilting don't you think?

I over do on the # of kids, hobbies, chocolate, sewing clothes for the girls, books, temper, driving and lots of other things too numerous to mention!

So back to the CQ.

You will notice in the pics that in several places I have used beaded fringe. I know it isn't a usual thing for crazy quilting but I like the movement and it is for a wallhanging. There are some laces I dyed in there too. There will be a lot more beads on this before I am done. I am a big fan of Sharon Boggons' and the encrusted look. It's over the top too

So enough of this . On to Guiding Light and a good cry. I love Reva!

Ist block of Wallhanging

Hello All,

I 've decided to show you some pics of my unfinished wall hanging, Keep in mind that none of these blocks are done yet. You can click on the above pics to get a larger view
I've been working on this for a year and a half.Mostly off for the past year, but I do keep buying things for it.
But first I have birthday dressses, curtains, Halloween Costumes (YUCK) and a few other things I can't remember right now.
As you can tell I am very into fantasy and mythological things.
This is the first in a series of 9 blocks. These blocks are quite ,20 inches square when done. I have mainly used velvets, satins and brocades but there are a few organza overlaid pieces and some tiedyed crepe fabric.
More pictures tomorrow, on to the fairy costume

Finally!

Well here it goes! I've downloaded some of my pics to the Flikr site, so be sure to check it out. Just click on the link to the right side of the screen.

My very first crazy quilt project was a jacket using a jean jacket pattern. It is all done in velvet and satins. I worked on it for 6 months, the last 2 as my mom was dying from smoking. Most of our last conversations had to do with this jacket. I was her suggestion to do the crocheted roses for the button loops.I think of her whenever I wear it especially as she is the one who got me started on all my sewing and embroidering and crocheting and on and on and on........
I learned to draw from Dad
As you may be able to tell from the pics it has been well worn. I am afraid to get it cleaned because I am afraid some of the beading will come loose.
Next time I'll start showing the wall hanging I am making.

In helping me with this blog my husband Dennis, says the last sentence implies there are more than one of me, that I have multiple personalities. He should know after 22 years that it is entirely possible!
